Social change is a continuing process. As librarians and information professionals, we are stewards leading people towards creating informed decisions, while continuously battling against misinformation, lack of education and literacy, lack of accountability, irresponsible use of information media and technology, and other aspects of information needs that is in dire need of our specialties. Our actions of varying intensities help us grow as individuals and as a field. The impact of our actions, and often inactions, help shape the society we live in. In line with this, the LIS Congress 2017 ‘Librarians: Agents for Social Change’ aims to serve as an avenue to further our profession’s cause as it exposes us to a non-traditional platform outside the confines of our institutions and daily workspaces. Social change starts with us, aspiring librarians and information professionals, as we steer into the new age where technology is widely available. Join us in our endeavor as we further delve deeper into our field. Help spark the change. Be an agent for social change.
See you at the #LISCongress2017.
